a stand of your hair, i found, while dozing in bed.
i wasn’t looking, of course, it floated and attached to my head.
a bit of your auburn among blondish red.
cross eyed i wondered what would be bred,
if they were braided together,
cared for
and fed.
seconds ticked on, and your loveliness spread.
to the silence, i blinked and eventually said.
“where do you begin and where do i end?”
receiving no answer i awoke and got in it’s stead:
the cry of a babe
to which all life had led.
